le mouton noir & co.: flow shelf
new york-based firm le mouton noir & co have applied the idea of a ship to ‘flow shelf’, a floating storage unit.
the wooden furniture piece is carved from plywood with the side of the material exposed to show the layers.
the raised edges keep the items on the shelf from falling off while also referencing the hull of the boat.
when boxes and small items are placed upon its surface, ‘flow’ resembles something similar to that of a cargo ship.
le mouton noir & co is one of the design studios participating in the designboom mart new york 2012
happening from the 19th until the 22nd of may at the international contemporary furniture fair (ICFF).

Versatile, modern and displaying an enticing design, the Ludovico Desk/Chairs/Storage still keeps that classic charm, without pushing the materials and design too far into the future. Designed based on the simple concept of placing two chairs inside the furniture while ensuring that the drawers remain considerably large, the Ludovico Desk/Chairs/Storage unit was the fabrication of Uruguayan industrial designer Claudio Sibille’s imagination. Proving to be a challenging design project, the Ludovico was made out of eucalyptus grandis finger joint and adorned with aluminum handles.

これなら使わない時はフラットな状態に出来るので無駄がなくていいですね。
