第二次世界大戦後のヨーロッパで庶民の足として普及したキャビンスクーター (バブルカー) 。西ドイツ (当時) のFMRメッサーシュミットはその最大手メーカーで、もともとは航空機メーカーだった。1953年に前後タンデム2人乗りのKR175を発売し、その発展型KR200と共に大ヒットとなったのだった。エンジンはザックス製2サイクル単気筒で、初期型KR175は173cc、55年登場のKR200では9.7PS/5000rpmを発揮する191ccに拡大されていた。またプレクシグラスのトップを持つタイプとカブリオレがあり、後にロードスターのKR201や後輪を2輪として493ccの2気筒エンジンを搭載した、TG500 (ティーガー) も登場。KR200は1964年まで生産された。

aston martin DB7 transformed into a zagato
built by UK-based bespoke auto producers evanta motor company to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the aston martin zagato,
the ‘DB4 GT zagato evocation’ is actually a modern, V12-engine DB7 car that has been converted to resemble the iconic zagato.
the one-off car features an ‘oxblood red hide’ interior with a vintage DB4 dashboard and seats, while retaining the modern conveniences
of air-conditioning, airbags, remote controlled doors, and heated seats. its one-piece body shell is composed of carbon fiber and kevlar,
finished in solent silver paint, with 16-inch wire wheels. evanta notes that any commissioned models of the ‘evocation’ will feature
pedal lengths and other modifications custom-tailored to the client.
evanta posted an abbreviated photo journal of the making-of the ‘evocation’.

spaceX dragon launch
saturday morning, may 19th, 2012, marks the first time in history that a private corporation attempts to deliver cargo
to the international space station (ISS), a mission thus far achieved only by three government-launched crafts.
at 4:55AM EDT at the NASA cape canaveral air force station in florida, spaceX will use its ‘falcon 9’ rockets to launch
the ‘dragon’ spacecraft, which if successful will arrive at the ISS five days later. ‘dragon’ is expected to remain docked
at the station for two weeks, before being released back to earth and collected from the pacific ocean.
UPDATE (5/19): high pressure readings in the combustion chamber on engine five of the ‘falcon 9’ led NASA
to cancel the launch one-half second prior to liftoff. a second attempt is anticipated for as early as tuesday, may 22nd.
UPDATE (5/22): at 3:44 AM EDT, the spaceX ‘falcon 9’ successfully lifted off with ‘dragon’. within ten minutes
the craft had reached orbit, and deployed its solar panels.

the redeveloped useful tool is made to fold not only flat, but also compresses horizontally into a single pole.
the hinges and dowels make it easy to open and close while the wooden device maintains its structural stability.
to make space for the folded rungs, the rails have indented space, allowing for the frame to unite into a single bar.
